Joe Goode (Joe Goode Performance Group)

A movement and theater project about recovering from trauma, built from verbatim interviews with veterans, their families and others, and staged with dance, gesture, song and spoken word. It has been developed in residencies and remounted in different versions since 2011; the 2019 version with The Contemporary Jewish Museum drew on stories from Bay Area veterans connected with the San Francisco VA Downtown clinic, Bob Basker 315 AL Post and Veterans for Peace chapter 69.

Winter 2016: Ben worked on music in JGPG rehearsals in January and on Feb 26, 2016; JGPG's Feb 29, 2016 newsletter announced The Resilience Project at Columbia College Chicago 'this weekend' as its 'second presentation... this winter.' Apr 4, 2019, 6-7:30pm: The Contemporary Jewish Museum, Goldman Hall, 736 Mission St, San Francisco (tech Apr 3), a collaboration with the CJM sponsored by the Walter & Elise Haas Fund and the Koret Foundation, with related performances at the War Memorial Building and the Third Street Downtown VA Clinic. 2020: a new version was rehearsed for GUSH, the first Joe Goode Annex Festival (May 15-31, 2020, tech from about May 20); JGPG cancelled GUSH on Mar 19, 2020 because of COVID-19 and moved it online May 26-31. Apr 19, 2023 (5-9pm): sections restaged for Access Institute's Catalyst Project event at St. Joseph's, alongside excerpts of As We Go and workshops; a May 2023 sharing used the 'Quartet/Terrace' section.

The score also used '35-Drone Tubular' from Poetics of Space and 'Evelyn Glennie' by Evelyn Glennie in an earlier version.
