Time of Change
Archive folder: Time of Change (Haight-Ashbury)
Joe Goode, Melecio Estrella, OYSTERKNIFE (Chibueze Crouch and Gabriele Christian), co-directors · Joe Goode Performance Group
A roving, site-specific dance-theater experience in the Haight-Ashbury, with pop-up moments of original music, monologues and movement, delivered partly through an audio tour on headphones. It weighs the hippie era's utopian ideals and failures against today's social movements and brings forward the neighborhood's overlooked Black and working-class history, drawing on oral-history interviews. It marked Joe Goode Performance Group's 35th and San Francisco Heritage's 50th anniversaries, and was supported by a Creative Work Fund grant.
